NEON PISS

Two things you need to know:

1. Neon Piss is a punk band.

2. They just uploaded 2 (two) new songs that will appear on their upcoming LP and those songs are beyond good. Trust me. Also, check the artwork. It's perfect.

p.s. additional info from their blog: The vinyl will be available in North America from Deranged Records. We will also have it available n Europe, thanks to Cut The Cord That....Records. It's at the pressing plant right now, so it'll be out soon and we're all very excited. (man, i am excited as well)

Enjoy and spread the word!

NO CLASS

Hi. It's been awhile. I know. This time i have a really nice reason to post on here. The reason is called Keine Klasse II. That's the title of the new NO CLASS record (Deranged Records). No Class are from Kansas City and they hate everyone.

NO CLASS - Keine Klasse II (Deranged Records)

The following article was brought to me by a sweet Friend of mine E., who emailed to Neal of NC a few weeks ago and asked him about some SHIT and STUFF. You know. Enjoy and spread the word!

From KC to Russia with hate by Neal Dyrkacz

People ask me why I am so angry, and I can just reply, "Take a look where we are living." We are in Kansas City, located astonishingly almost in the exact middle of the USA and depressingly furthermore, right in the heart of the Bible Belt. Other than Chicago, which is 9 hours to the North by automobile, and St. Louis, a smaller trek of 4 hours directly East, Kansas City is lost in a sea of nothingness that one has to endure to get from East Coast to West Coast. But one thing to be proud of is, at least we live in Kansas City, Missouri and not Kansas City, Kansas.
KC is a city that saddly has degenerated from a once bustling smaller city to a suburban sprawl city. Kansas City, population wise, is pretty big when accounting for its whole metropolitan area, but saddly the city proper is lacking. The home, front lawn, white pickett fence, marriage, 2.5 kids, and a dog is the draining reality, the stereotypical American dream. People get married and have kids at a young age here....they are content in not educating themselves in how the world actually works. Frankly, I would say that many suburban KC people are scared of the city. You will see a number of places in Kansas City, tailor made for the affluent people of the area.....I like to call them 'White Safe Havens'. It's sad, how a city so rich in history and once so important in culture and agriculture has come to this. Of course I am giving you a birds eye view of the city. I'm also giving you my non-native perpsective of KC.
I have only been a KC resident for about 5 years now. Don't get me wrong, I am a Midwest native, born and raised in the greatest city, if you ask me, in the USA....Chicago. I moved myself down here because of a job I had decided to take at a time when I was having trouble finding any work as a Software Engineer in Chicago. Kansas City is much different from Chicago, but like every place it has its ups and downs, pros and cons. I'm 28, yes I have a real job, yes I save for retirement, yes I have a savings account.......and yes I love hardcore and punk. And if any punk/hardcore purists have a problem with that.......THEY CAN GET FUCKED. Don't tell me how to live my life, don't give me any rules. Like most, I have the typical story of how I got into this type of music. You come across it at a younger age, you identify with it, and the rest is history. Some fall out of it, some stay with it for life, and some cycle in and out of it. I never really identified with topics such as government oppression and a person's economical status in lyrics. All my life I have been middle class, not rich, not poor.....just decently comfortable. So does this mean I can't listen to punk/hc? Fuck off, yeah I can. It's not my fault I was born into a family where my dad was a PhD. in Research Chemistry and my mom was a school teacher. Sorry, I have a degree that allowed me to get a job and affords me the ability to do what I want. But punk/hc has an intensity and an anger I can identify with. The sense of me vs everyone else. The rawness of the sound. Also, the friends, the connections, the do it yourself attitude.
In Chicago, I played guitar for Wound Up, which released a EP on painkiller records. The 2nd guitarist, Tim, played guitar for the amazing Bay area band, Unit Pride in the late 80's. And near the end of Wound Up, me, the drummer, and the other guitarist helped round out the Chicago/Toronto side project, Pink Eye, that contained Jonah Falco ( Fucked Up / Career Suicide) and Damian Abrahams ( Fucked UP ). After Wound Up folded, and after graduating from College....I found my way down to Kansas City around 2007. THe good thing about midwest is the strong connection between its major cities, forming the Midwest hardcore triangle, between KC, Chicago, and STL. So when moving to KC from Chicago, it wasn't that hard to meet up with the scene and already know a few people.
Dillon ( No Class Drummer ), was also not born in Kansas City area, but is an Troy/Albany, NY area native....he moved with his family to KC. No Class also contains 2 brothers, Jesse (guitar) and Dustin (bass) Street. The Street brothers were born and grew up in the Kansas City area. The Street brothers and Dillon are a great example of why Kansas City is starting to get noticed as a place where people actually live, and that we can also make great punk/hc. Jesse and Dustin were in the band We're Fucked which got huge response in KC during their lifespan as a band. After We're Fucked folded, Jesse and Dillon joined forces in Black Mark which started getting more attention outside of the KC area....but Black Mark was very short lived and folded rather quickly. Jesse started the band Sorry Excuse, if you ask me, was the boiling over point for KC punk/Hardcore. Among other bands like Dark Ages, this definitely put a spot light onto KC and definitely forged a good bond between KC and Chicago. Which paved the way for No Class.....
So fast forward to late 2009, early 2010. I was hanging out in the practice space that is used by a couple of the KC hardcore bands with Jesse Street. A couple months before this I had tried to get a new hardcore band going using some guitar riffs I had laying around, but sadly nothing ever came to fruition. At this time, Jesse started playing one of my riffs, but now it was played slower and with a different rhythm. It just seemed to click better, next thing you know, we were bringing in Jesse's brother, Dustin Street, on bass, and Dillon Bendetti on drums. We had a jam session and things basically took off from there. Undeniably Midwestern. Slow, mid paced, and at times manic....we carved out the sound we wanted. With 4 people actually contributing to the sound, music, and style we had a well rounded basis. It helps keep things fresh. We write songs that make us want to break things and actually get us pumped to play them.
Where does the name come from? Some will say, from the Reagan Youth song, others will say because we actually have no class. Who knows.....but it fit, and it stuck. Yes, there was the issue of No Class being a generic name, and has been used before.....that's why we also go by Keine Klasse and everything we will ever put out will just be labeled, Keine Klasse. It's German, it's bad ass, end of story. Fuck yes.
We busted our asses, and quickly put out a demo tape, we only made 100, and they went pretty fast. My friend Rob Ruzicka from Cardiac Arrest in STL, was turning 30 that April in 2010, and he decided to put together a huge show, he got Formaldehyde Junkies to reunite, Career Suicide to fly down, and one of the first New York hardcore bands, THe Abused to play it. And Rob gave us the opportunity to open the show. Shortly after, Deranged Records contacted us about actually pressing the demo to a 7'' format. We wanted to keep the demo limited, and as a cassette so we opted out of that idea, but Deranged wanted to work with us, so we decided to do a 12''. We worked most of the spring/summer of 2010 writing material and hashing out stuff to record. By late summer we had gone into the studio to lay it down, and by fall of 2010 it was out. So far we are working on more material and trying to decide what we want to do with it, most likely it will come out on Deranged Records sometime at the end of 2011, beginning of 2012.
What's it like being in No Class? Ridiculous. The combination of all members lack of respect and politically correctness for anything is pretty astounding. We don't take much of anything seriously.....and we are just a bunch of goofballs. We all get a long, even the Street brothers, or at least they get along as well as any two brothers can. I'm a wound up, anxiety ridden douche bag, Dillon is straight up comedic relief, and the Street brothers are two of the most stubborn and opinionated people on the planet. With all of us combined, I'm surprised anything gets done. We are all friends, and I tend to see each member at least once or twice a week besides our weekly practice. Dustin lives basically a couple blocks away from my apt, Jesse and Dillon live about a mile or two away from. We are basically adults who refuse to grow up, which helps with writing music.
We all work together to write new material, someone will come with an initial idea and we will all sit there and work on it together at our weekly practice. This way we all are invested in the band and we also get a good blending of styles and sound. If we aren't going off to our own music, well then that song most likely will not work out and will be dropped or changed until we feel it's good. There have been many arguments and even a small push and shove, choking incident at practice over how a song should be played, but it was for the best.
I never expected any punk/HC band I would ever be in would give me the opportunity to talk to some many different people from so many different places. The 'Digital Age' has really allowed us to reach out to anyone across the country and the world. We have had people email us from England, Germany, Sweden, and now Russia! It's bad ass! We hope to some day to get over to Europe and play some shows, but it's just hard with our time constraints right now. But so far we have been having a great time playing weekend out of town shows. We will drive 18 hours to play one show. We do what we gotta do. That's just how it is.

BACK TO BACK RECORDS (interview with Neil Patel)

1) Sup freak! How's life? What did you dream about last night? Tell me what i NEED to listen to atm.
Life sucks. I haven't slept in 28 hours. I didn't dream, but lately I've been having nightmares about my teeth falling out it's really fun. Foundation - When The Smoke Clears

2) Guess who's Back To Back!
She must be a Back To Back fan...

3) So, i know there's a fresh addition to BTBR Crew. That guy called Cain. Tell me something about him.
Cain is a pit bull/rottweiler given to us by Sir Joseph of Hardcore. He's the man. He's currently 8 weeks old and won't stop crying and biting everyone. He has his own part of the label called Bark To Bark, and he is currently single, holla a him.

4) What do you think about signing a European band? I know it's your secret wish.
We already did duh, Not Afraid and they’re sweet.

5) What's in your opinion an ideal place for living?
I don’t know if you mean an actual place or my imagination sooo I’ll just answer both. Atlanta when everyones constantly hanging out, Philadelphia. Maybe NYC if all my close friends lived there. My imagination : Never hot or humid, constant hoodie weather. Good scene, close to other cool places, good food and no cats.

6) What would you choose:
a) A lonely life with a dog by your side (until the day you die) or
b) A family life (with wife, children and a cat). p.s. yes, i remember you are allergic to cats.
Why?

Depends. Cause if I’m lonely with a dog, I’d still be lonely that sounds sad haha.
I’d probably take B and just fuck with the cat, like make it wear kitten mittens

7) What are your fav non-hardcore bands?
The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Morrissey, Blink-182 and Saves The Day

8) Top-5: shoes, alkaline trio songs, comic books heroes, food (don't say cheesesteak)

Weird question.
You’re dead, Radio, Armageddon, Keep Em Coming, Goodbye Forever
Wolverine, Batman, The Hulk, Spiderman, Superman.

9) If you found someone dead in bed, what would you do?
Probably get weird.

10) What's BTB to you? Fun? Job? A hobbie? Life? Food? D'oh?
It’s fun, it’s not really a job. Hardcores my life, I owe everything to it. It will be food once me and Ned follow through with SNACK 2 SNACK, our candy line.

11) Have you ever played in a band? Did it suck?
No I’m a loser.

12) Recommend me a movie that would make me actually start killing people after watching it.
(if nothing comes to your mind, just recommend one good movie and motivate me to watch it)

Have you ever watched Dear Zachary? It’s a pretty fucked up documentary that’ll make you mad. I feel like fighting after I see movies like Football Factory and hooligan movies, then I realize I’m a whimp.

13) Peace. That was fun. Anything to add?

Yeah, uh, why are you interviewing me? Peace 2 Ned, BTB crew and Atlanta Straight Edge.

P.S. I am interviewing you cause i had nothing to do and you said all those regular Qs suck. So...

REARRANGED

Actually this Thursday started for me pretty awesome. I mean, a mailman woke me up, cause he had another letter for me (from my future university, i hope) and i finally posted the Wardogs interview...and the most exciting thing: Rearranged self-titled EP on bandcamp. Stoked. Really stoked guys, haha. I won't say anything, just post a link and leave you with that. Must listen.
Rearranged - Self-titled EP

The debut EP on REACT! Records of Moscow's powerhouse Rearranged picks up right where they left off on their previous release, always showcasing the band’s musical and lyrical growth. Drawing influences from classic DC and Orange County-based acts, the follow up of their full-length 'New Forms' delivers five brand new songs of speedy and intense hardcore punk that sometime resemble Minor Threat and Insted, yet managing to attain a character all its own. Recorded and engineered by Mikhail Gabolaev at PravdaPro Studio and mixed by Gustav Brunn at Studio Bengt in Lund, this release proves to be the bands most mature and cohesive work to date. Art duties handled by Ulf Hammarkärr of The Effort fanzine fame. Here you can listen to two of the new songs, 'Disengage Now' and 'Drilling'.

WARDOGS INTERVIEW

Hey Joe, hey Dan! What's up? What's been happening lately? What are you doing/listening to right now?
Joe: Yo Nastya, we're heading to Germany on Friday to play Break Down The Walls fest, other than that just enjoying the hot weather and chilling at the beach whilst listening to music about girls.
Dan: Hey Nastya, lately I’ve been surfing and generally hanging out in the sun, I love summer. Lately I’ve been listening to the new Rival Schools record a lot, which is incredible. And after reading that Double Cross interview with Jules from Side By Side I’ve been listening to SBS a lot more than usual. Along with The Smiths (every day).

Let's start with introduction. What is Wardogs? Who are Wardogs? Tell me some funny stories about other member. Btw, any Iron Boots reference in the name of the band?
Joe: Wardogs is a collective of party enthusiasts and we just want to play everywhere whilst hanging out with our friends, the band consists of Ricky Stix, Pablo, Naughty Dan, Riff master Rofe and myself, above average Joe. I can't really remember if it was initially a Boots reference but it may aswell be as Iron Boots ruled and are one of our favourite bands.
Dan: Wardogs was originally an excuse for us to hang out but we made a band out of it because we all liked Pablo so much, he’s my best friend. We were stuck for a name and we all thought Wardogs was the perfect name, but yeah we did get it from the Boots song. They were awesome. The only funny things that I can think of right now is when Joe gets high and starts talking like he’s American or black. He named himself Phat Nigga the other night. Smokey Joe.

How did you come with the idea to start a band?
Joe: Everyone but myself was in a band at the time and weren't really playing what they wanted to play so we just came up with the idea of starting a band for fun early last year, we just wanted to do a straight up hardcore band and have fun.
Dan: Me and Joe came up with the idea for this band a long time before we got the demo together. It was originally going to be a side project and do nothing more than a demo. I was already in a band but it wasn’t really to my taste in hardcore, so I wanted to start something with a bit more of an old school influence and ethic.

What was the way from the 1st practice to the 1st show ever? (who else played?)
Joe: When the band first started we had a different second guitarist but he's a cock so we told him to fuck off, we wrote the demo as a four piece in a couple of weeks and recorded it not long after, our first show was the BWP record release, More Than Life, Basement and Almost Home played also, that was a cool show. I think we're the first band ever to have a car bonnet as a flag on stage, swag.
Dan: Our first practice was probably about a year before our first show, we were really lazy about it, but I’m glad we waited because if we had rushed out a demo, it probably would have been shit. Our first show was the BWP record release show. Tom Ironclad punched Joe in the nose, it was awesome.

Let's talk about records. Which bands influence you and your music?
Joe: I wouldn't know where to start with our influences, it ranges from early NYHC all the way to Lockin Out stuff, we've been likened to Warzone a fucking lot which I don't really hear but that's cool so yeah.
Dan: It’s hard to say what bands influence the Wardogs songs. There’s too many to name. When I listen to the record I can hear exactly what each part is influenced by. On the 7” there’s a part that reminds me of The Abused and another part that I subconsciously stole from The Mob.

When is the new record coming out officially? What do you think about it and about CTW records? :)
Joe: The record should be out next week and hopefully in time for our record release next weekend at the final CCHC show, Carry The Weight records are easily one of the best hardcore labels going right now, Pat and Tomas are continuously putting out awesome releases and they work hard to please the bands, they're really good looking guys too so if you're a girl who's riding the dick of boys in to hardcore, get at them. They've been nothing but great towards us and we can't imagine being on any other label unless it was Metal Blade (sorry).
Dan: The record will hopefully be with us at the start of May. CTW is the best label in Europe by a mile and like Joe said, those guys are hot.

What are your fav songs from both EPs and why?
Joe: My favourite song on the demo is probably Self Righteous, it's about some bullshit that happened between me and a supposed friend a while back so I wrote a song about him, like Tupac would. As for the 7", it's probably Sick & Tired which is basically about my life over the last year, the 7" in general is all about shit that went on in my life over the last 6-8 months so buy it and listen to me moan about stuff you'll relate to if you're a fourteen year old girl.
Dan: I personally much prefer the new songs on the 7” to the demo tracks. The 7” is a bit more aggressive I think, which is exactly what I wanted to make it after the demo. My favourite song of ours is Something Has Got To Give.

Joe, who writes the lyrics? Do you have your favorite songwriter? I mean, whose lyrics mean to you so much and all that shit
Joe: I write all the lyrics but if the other guys think they're shit then we'll sort them out together, Dans good at that and doesn't know it yet but he's writing the lyrics for the LP. My favourite songwriter within hardcore? Probably Tommy from Straight Ahead or Richie of Underdog, outside of hardcore I'd have to say BigL or Marvin Gaye, that is serious love music.
Dan: My favourite songwriter is Morrissey. Just wanted to add that. So if I’m writing lyrics for the LP then you can expect some sweeping metaphors about love and missing my friends.

Btw, i am stoked on that upcoming tour. I mean, 2 shows in Ukraine? For real? Would be great. Which countries are you going to visit?
Joe: Yeah it's going to be the tits, it's going to be a good couple of weeks with Abolition from London. I can't really remember where we're going, I think it's like Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, Poland etc so it'll be really cool!
Dan: Every couple of days Joe calls me telling me about a tour that we are doing but so far none of them have ever happened haha, but I really hope the tour with Abolition actually happens. On a few occasions we have all got in to a big discussion about Chernobyl and the Red Forest, so if we get to come to Ukraine, I am moshing (metaphorically). Actually, that's what i'm going to write the LP lyrics about. It's going to be a concept record about how to survive as a crew in the Red Forest. I have been told a bunch of crazy countries that we’re going to, but to be honest we’re pretty unorganized so we’ll be lucky if we make it to the ferry.

What do you think of hardcore scene inn the US/UK and Swansea particularly? Any good local bands (and not just local) to recommend?
Joe: The US is always going to have a really strong scene overall, there's so many bands coming out of there that there's never really a dry spell. The UK is awesome right now, there's a lot of bands who are really going places and putting our records worth listening to, it's the tits right now. Wales has always been different to the rest of the UK, for a long time we were easily the best scene, we had the best bands, the best shows and it was a group of friends instead of just people from all over going to a show, I think that's quite rare to find but sadly everything comes to an end and with the final CCHC show next weekend, I think it's going to be very quiet around here.
Dan: I think people over here forget how big the US is. Each state is about the same size as the whole of Britain. So it’s easy to say “the US has a great scene”, but that’s just what we see from over here on the internet and such. Don’t get me wrong, some of the bands in the US right now are amazing, but come on…there’s a lot of shit ones too. Same with any country. My favourite current hardcore band is probably Mind Eraser.

Do you know any hardcore/punk bands from my area? (Russia/Ukraine)
Joe: Nah I don't which sucks really as I'm sure there are some quality bands there, eastern Europe doesn't get much attention when it comes to hardcore so it must be really hard for bands to get noticed, recommend me some stuff to listen to!
Dan: I don’t think so no! Although one time a Russian ice hockey team came to Cardiff and I saw that game, it was awesome. They were called Russian Red Army or something.

What do you do besides WD? Got any hobbies? Maybe, silly ones, haha
Joe: Just hang out and stuff, everyone is either working or in education so I guess that counts. I like to listen to Taking Back Sunday in my pants and chain smoke a lot!
Dan: I surf and skate as much as I can with our drummer Ricky Twix.

What is the most unreal thing you'd love to do, but you know for sure it's never going to happen?
Joe: I'd love to win the lottery and adopt a puppy every day, I'd sleep on a bed of puppies and they'd cuddle me for all eternity.
Dan: I’ll agree with Joe. I’d love to win the lottery and do the most insane shit. People say money cant buy happiness, but I’m pretty happy with my life anyway, so if I had a shit load of money I’d be set. I’d move me and my girlfriend to New York, buy a pug and live happily ever after. I would name the pug Sylvester.

If you had DeLorian in which year/era would you travel?
Joe: I'd go back to like 1920 or something and take Hitler on a night out so he isn't so uptight and a dick, I'd pay for him to do shots and who knows, maybe he'd become a hairdresser instead?
Dan: I’d probably just go back to the mid 80’s in New York. I’d get to see all the best punk shows and stuff. Then I’d steal all the rhymes that Nas and Big L hadn’t written yet and be a huge rapper, DMoney or some shit.

And final Q. Just me being curious :) BEST line up for a show? 5 bads (active or dead, doesn't matter). Imagine like it would be the last show in your life. haha
Joe: Metallica circa 86, Tegan And Sara, Straight Ahead circa 88, Prince and Queen.
Dan: Nirvana, The Smiths, Jawbreaker, Brotherhood (they are my favorite hc band) and Joy Division.

Thanks a lot guys! Hugs <3 Any last words?
Dan: The Wardogs "A Crew In The Red Forest" Musical, coming 2012, you are not ready.

WARDOGS, BITCH!

WARDOGS

Hey everybody! This post has a loooooong story. It's been a month  or something since i wrote to Dan and Joe on fb asking of making an interview with them about WARDOGS and maybe reviewing the new record and whatnot. So, it was a long and a hard way for me to write those Qs :D
The new EP is called OUTCAST BEHAVIOR. You can pre order it here wardogs - outcast behavior (2011). No doubt that i like this record more than the Demo (it doesn't mean the demo sucks, okay???) To me it sounds less cro-magish and has more original sound. BUT! I suck at reviewing records and it's just only my humble opinion. "Something has got to give" is def my fav song from the new EP. Fast, angry and with that HAHAHA part. :D Just awesome. Pre order the record, get educated, listen to good music, buy merch, book them shows and whatnot!

TRUTH

Hey there! It's been aaawhile. It's 3 p.m. here (i just woke up, dammit) and the weather is fine, if you go outside you will definitely die or get wet in a second...So! I want you to imagine that we are in Texas now! Right, in Texas, let's say in Fort Worth. What do you know about this town? Honestly, i googled it and found tons of information on wiki and everything (official website btw ). But! What did i already know about Fort Worth without help of google? That this is a hometown for a band called TRUTH and that they rule hard. Haha, you see how cool i started my review? Whatever! Truth is a really young band, they released their first EP on April, the 8th (shit, that was yesterday), it contains 6 songs (including bonus, which is hilarious in the beginning and really nailed to the x in the end <3). What can i say about their music? They bring strong straight edge hardcore attitude with big influence of YOT, Uniform Choice, Bold, DYS, TYF etc. (isn't this awesome?)  After listening to the EP i don't close their bandcamp page and just forget about it, i keep listening to it and i will definitely jam it on my ipod. So, if you like youth crew hardcore - you better get educated right now and check this band out.

OUR TURN

Yes. Tonight is the night of big bands. Let's get it started.
Our Turn (2003-2005) was a straight edge/youth crew hardcore band from San Francisco, California. As it often happens, a few kids, which share the same interests catch up somewhere (in our case at San Francisco State University) and decide that they have no choice, but form an awesome band, record songs and play shows! This is what happened to guys from Our Turn (i believe it was exactly as i described, hehe). So, after a while they record a 7 song demo tape called Step Aside at Dutch Oven recording studio. Everybody gets stoked on that demo (which was, btw, later released on 7" thanks to YB Rec.) and Our Turn begins touring the US and even play at Posi Numbers fest. In 2005 they record a MCD Catch Your Breath, which is still available on Youngblood Records only for 2$ (hurry up, kiiiids). Our Turn played its last show on April 10, 2005 at the 418 Front St. Project in Santa Cruz, CA.

OUT OF SIGHT

Hey there! Tonight i am going to post about a young Canadian straight edge/hardcore band called Out of Sight. I have to admit i downloaded their demo tape some time ago, but i haven't listened to it until i got in touch with James, who plays in this band (it was like a coincidence), so i decided it's totally a sign for me to check OOS immediately. I liked their demo, so i decided more people have to find out about them (yes, all 5 followers i have here) and now, as you can see, i am making this post and writing shit (while listening to Out of Sight, of course). So! I decided to ask James a few questions and make like a short interview, which would help to introduce them.
p.s. Out of Sight "Demo 2011" tape was sold out really fast on React! Records

N.: What's up James? How is it going? Tell us, please more about Out of Sight. Like, who are the members, what was the goal of making a band. What are good and bad characteristics of the members?
J.: Not much; awesome! Out of Sight is: Chad (vocals), Stephanie (bass), Alex (drums), and myself (riffs). When Chad and I came up with the idea to start the band, we really had no goal other than to deliver the Straight Edge reality, but we ended up with a band that's all vegan as well, so that's an added bonus. Not to toot our own collective horn or anything, but I guess we're the first straight edge band in the city made up of all kids aged 23 and under in a really long time, so that's kind of cool.
N.: I saw on OOS blogspot that the first post was made on Now, 13th 2010. When did you start rehearsing?
J.: We started jamming around September 2010 when we finally started renting a jam space with our friends in Tempest.
N.: Classic: where from comes the name Out of Sight?
J.: It's lyrics from the song "Out of Time" by Burn, a crucial band with lyrics that pertain to a lot of what we're about. I guess there's some dingleberry rock band that's been around for a while with the same name, so hopefully they don't sue us, since "Out of Sight A.D." would be a totally weird vibe.
N.: What's a Nerd Crew? is it like an inside joke or a real crew? I am curious!
J.: It's basically an inside joke referring to our group of friends (definitely not a crew), but there's a somewhat serious sentiment behind it. We wouldn’t have gotten into hardcore if we didn’t feel alienated from mainstream culture in some way, so it’s hard to understand why anyone would want to use it as another stepping stone to be cool. We feel that hardcore shouldn't be some easy, casual scene in which people can just front like they're hard and barely get involved, and it shouldn't mirror the rest of society's ignorance and insincerity. No cool guys in hardcore.
N.: What can you tell about hardcore/punk scene in Vancouver? Is it full of shit or a heaven on the Earth? haha What are your fav local bands?
J.: It's hard to generalize since there's a lot going on in punk, so I'll mainly discuss the all ages hardcore scene (which I'm stoked on). Admittedly, I moved here late in the game and everyone reminds me that I missed an era of great hardcore shows in the city, and the all ages scene is somewhat smaller now than it was in the heyday of bands like Go it Alone and Blue Monday, but there's still lots of dedicated people supporting the scene. The older heads have continued to hold it down by playing in great bands and putting on shows, and there's a lot of younger kids coming out, so I think things can only go uphill from here. Keep it Clear, Circles, and Vacant State are some of my favorite local bands, and I'm psyched to play Damages' first show in a while. Also, if you dig the guest vocals on "Count the Years", stay tuned for an upcoming 7" from Tongue Tied. They are a bunch of legit freaks who love Reserve 34. There's a ton of great bands in the city and not all of them are totally affiliated with the all ages hardcore scene, so I'll make a convoluted list of what I'm into:
The Bands:
Lush Vegetation (80's style hardcore in the vein of the FU's and Jerry's Kids)
Tempest (heavy influence from Uranus/One-Eyed God Prophecy and Takaru/Burial Year. They released a next-level LP a while back.)
Consequence Crew (serious Brotherhood and Confront vibes)
Spectres (Joy Division-inspired post-punk)
Fear of Tomorrow (ripping d-beat)
Wild Cravings (my other band... sorry for the shameless self-promotion. Down-tuned Scandinavian-style d-beat)
N.: Any plans for future? Shows, new records, tours, merch? Tell me everything!
J.: Our next show is the Damages record release with Vacant State and Consequence Crew, and that's a totally stacked lineup. We also have a tentative plan for a mini tour to B.C. and Alberta, and we want to play Washington as soon as we can. A confirmed dude already wants to help us put out a 7" that we haven't written yet, but I'm sure we'll be able to get the ball rolling on that in due time. Also, once we settle on a tight shirt design and scope out a good deal, we're printing shirts and hoodies. So long as we're not keeping secrets: we will fuel the hype by putting some shirts up on fake eBay auctions and driving up the prices into the hundreds.
N.: Your last words (sounds creepy, btw)
J.:  Fuck bar culture. It's ok not to drink. Celebrate hardcore history. Thanks!

BLUESBREAKER

Bluesbreaker (2009-) is probably my favorite band in local Ukrainian scene, and this has nothing to do with the fact that all of them are amazing kids and good friends of mine :)
BB were formed in 2009, guys came together to play fast and angry music, but how it often happens, rehearsal sessions showed that they created their own sound, which locals jokingly describe as hardcore/blues. And they definitely got the blues. First show and first demo tape (Demo 1910) release was on July, 3rd 2010. The demo was released both on tapes (thanks to Backed Up Records) and on CDs (thanks to Love Pills and Whiskey Records). In autumn of 2010 guys hit the studio to record a sooper-dooper EP called Chain Gang, which is going to be released on 7" (thanks to Juggernaut Records) in March 2011. Recently Bluesbreaker had a mini-tour in several Russian towns with another great band The Pack (post about them coming soon, ha).

Bluesbreaker is:
xmikiex - vocals
Alex Young - drums
Don Anton - guitar
Ilya Kotik - bass

Crispus Attucks

Crispus Attucks (1995-2002) was a band from Maryland/Washington D.C. (my favorite area, i guess)
First time i came across with this band in Milkshake Fanzine (D.C. Issue), one of interviewed guys told that if he could change history, he would love to play in the band called Crispus Attucks. I am a very curious person, that's why i decided to check what was so awesome about this band. All i can say - i wish i've discovered them earlier. Their music can be described as an outstanding mix of fast hardcore punk music and addiction to skateboarding! During their life CA released 4 awesome records on Soda Jerk Records and Six Weeks Records. Former members now play/played in 86 Mentality, Wasted Time, Goverment Warning.

introduction

First i'd like to say that this is going to be my the very-very first post on this blog, so i am pretty nervous about it. I came out with the idea of creating my own blog a few weeks ago and it took me so much time to make the first step, i just hope not to fuck this up. So, no more words. Only music. Enjoy!
